Abstract
ABSTRACT IMPLEMENTING CASE-BASED REASONING METHOD FOR DIAGNOSING VENEREAL DISEASES By HENDRA GUNAWAN Diseases attacking the human reproductive system are caused by viruses or bacteria. In general, venereal diseases are transmitted through sexual contact. The venereal diseases can be diagnosed by experts (dermatologists and urologists). The problem statement of this research was that there was a high cost paid by patients who got medical examination for venereal diseases, especially the patients from middle and lower class. The results of these medical records were documented as science and knowledge. The science and knowledge were expressed through a system using artificial intelligence. The knowledge base helped dermatologists and urologists diagnose various diseases. The Case-Based Reasoning systems were able to store, retrieve, and preserve knowledge from occurring cases. The case-based reasoning used 4 steps i.e., retrieving, reusing, revising, and retaining. There were 8 cases and a new case had to be provided because it was used as a comparison with the old case. The results of this research produced the case-based reasoning system for diagnosing the venereal diseases. The result of this system was in the form of recommendations for possible diseases and treatment recommendations based on similarities in new cases with old cases.
