Abstract

THE EFFECT OF MARKET CAPITALIZATION AND TRADING VOLUME ON BITCOIN (BTC) PRICE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC By : M. Krisna Abdoel Aziz 1812110438 ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze and determine the effect of market capitalization and trading volume on bitcoin prices for the 2020-2021 period. This type of research is explanatory research using quantitative methods. The population and sample in this study are changes in bitcoin data for the 2020-2021 period. With the amount of data in the sample as much as 104 data. And the analysis technique used is time series linear regression analysis. The results show that market capitalization has a significant effect on bitcoin prices and trading volume has a significant effect on bitcoin prices. The market capitalization value has an important meaning for investors. Before investing, most investors compare the market capitalization value of an asset with other assets. The results of this study indicate that one of the price-forming factors is market capitalization. Meanwhile, one of the causes of fluctuating bitcoin prices is the occurrence of international transactions in the bitcoin market, many investors or traders who carry out many transactions increase the amount of trading volume and thus result in fluctuating prices. trading volume with price fluctuations which have a positive relationship because the volume reflects the information received by market participants.
