Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of social aspects, namely social needs and social influence on dependence and the effect of dependence on smartphones towards repurchase intentions. Social needs and social influence are social aspects as factors that trigger dependence. Social needs include the desire to be loved, made friends and accepted by others. While social influence is a person's way of influencing the beliefs, feelings, and behavior of others. This study has three hypotheses. Data were collected from respondents obtained from questionnaires distributed to Gadjah Mada University students. The data were then analyzed using structural equation modeling techniques with the help of LISREL software. The results of this study indicate that social needs and social influence have a positive and significant effect on dependence, while dependence has a positive and significant effect on repurchase intention. All hypotheses in this study were accepted. Each hypothesis is discussed in detail in this article
