Abstract
ABSTRACT DESIGN OF ANTENNA/ACCESS POINT USING MULTIPATH BASED PROPAGATION ON OPTIMIZING THE COMMUNICATION QUALITY By: Edi Saputro ITERA (Institut Teknologi Sumatera) is one of the institutions engaged in the technology sector in Lampung. Information and Communication Technology Unit is a unit whose task to support the information technology needs in the ITERA environment. One of the main tasks of the ICT Unit is to provide an infrastructure that serves communication. The media that can be used is the Wireless LAN network. Problems that occurred in UPT ICT are the lack of planning of the installation distance between Access Point (AP) devices, the number of AP requirements and capacity needed so that the signal distribution is not optimal and there is a lot of interference. The purpose of this study was to design an antenna/access point using multipath based propagation on optimizing communication quality. The design was made using the Network Simulator 2 program and implemented using a Cisco 1832I access point with a capacity of 400 Users. Network availability is obtained by 96%, with a downtime of 60 minutes in 1 day. The results of this study were the optimal distance of the device as far as 25 meters, with the sliced signal distance between devices by 25% resulting in the distance between devices as far as 18.75 meters, with the number of Access Points of 6 Units in 1 floor along 120 Meters.
