Abstract

This system was developed to address the limited knowledge of pedigree cat owners regarding diseases that are often difficult to detect. A primary challenge faced by these owners was the high susceptibility of their cats to various diseases caused by genetic and environmental factors, compounded by limited access to veterinarians-especially in remote areas far from urban centers. This study aimed to develop a web-based expert system that enables users to independently diagnose diseases in pedigree cats based on symptoms provided by the user. These symptoms were matched against a knowledge base consisting of diagnostic rules. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and literature reviews. The system was designed using the Unified Modelling Language (UML) to aid in the visualization, definition, construction, and documentation of the system. The forward chaining method was applied to implement expert reasoning logic within the system. PHP was the programming language, and MySQL served as the database. The final result of this study was a functional website designed to assist pedigree cat owners in performing early disease diagnoses more quickly and accurately, enabling timely and appropriate treatment. Additionally, the system supported veterinarians by streamlining the diagnostic process and facilitating faster and more efficient patient report documentation through computerization.
