Abstract

Advancements in information technology have facilitated digitalization across multiple sectors, including cinema ticket booking systems. Despite the convenience and time efficiency offered by online booking, challenges persist, such as unstructured queues and the risk of double booking. These issues often arise due to the lack of a fair and effective queuing mechanism. This study developed and implemented a web-based cinema ticket booking system utilizing the First In First Out (FIFO) method, which processes transactions according to the order of user arrivals. The FIFO approach was designed to enhance fairness in queue management, minimize double booking occurrences, and improve overall system efficiency. The research was conducted by designing a web-based booking system that uses FIFO as its core mechanism for queue management. System testing was carried out through simulations and a case study at BES Cinema Metro The evaluation focused on processing speed, booking success rate, and user satisfaction levels. The results showed that the FIFO method effectively optimized queue processing, increased user satisfaction, and reduced booking errors. These findings indicate that implementing FIFO can serve as a reference for developing more effective digital queuing systems across various public service domains.
