Abstract

manufacturing industry, including in the process of making Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) as the main component of electronic devices. This study aims to develop a CNC router machine based on the Arduino Uno microcontroller which focuses on the process of drawing PCB path schematics automatically, accurately, and efficiently. The system was developed using a combination of open-source software, namely EasyEDA for electronic path design, FlatCAM for converting Gerber files to G-code, and Candle CNC for the control and calibration process of the machine. This machine is also equipped with an automatic starting point calibration feature (auto zero Z-Probe) to improve the precision of the path cutting process. Tests were carried out on three types of PCB materials, namely FR1, FR4, and Semi-Fiber to evaluate the quality of the engraving results, process time, and cutting depth precision. The results show that this machine is capable of producing PCB schematic paths with an accuracy of up to ±0.05 mm, and saving production time by up to 50% compared to manual methods. With relatively low manufacturing costs and an open-source component-based system, this machine is very suitable for use in educational practical activities and also has potential applications in small and medium industries. This study proves that the application of Arduino-based CNC technology can be an efficient and applicable alternative solution for limited-scale PCB production.
