Abstract

Sustainable tourism played a vital role in the development of tourist destinations by balancing economic, social, and environmental benefits. This study employed the Partitioning Around Method (PAM) as a clustering technique to group tourists based on their characteristics and preferences. Conducted at the Cuku Nyinyi Mangrove Forest tourist site, the research aimed to identify visitor segments, analyze the potential of local resources, and design more effective strategies for destination development. The research methodology included data collection through visitor surveys, interviews with tourism managers, and direct observation of local facilities and resources. The collected data were analyzed using the PAM method to generate distinct clusters of tourists based on visit frequency and types of activities undertaken. The findings demonstrated that the PAM method effectively produced clear tourist segmentation, enabling tourism managers to optimize services and promotional strategies in alignment with market demands. Keywords: Sustainable Tourism, Partitioning Around Method (PAM), Clustering, Tourist Destination, Cuku Nyinyi
